TRIO Scholarship results
At our TRIO Philadelphia chapter meeting, the results of our scholarship fund raising program were announced: $495 donated!!
Bob Kelchner’s idea and donated train set worked well in making the event both a fun and successful way to provide monies to help deserving transplant and donor family students in this annual TRIO national scholarship event. Check out the national web site at http:/trioweb.org for the 2014 scholarship application when it is posted in January. Sue Kelchner, Bob’s wife and original kidney donor had the honor of pulling the winning name for that train set…
“And the winner is . . . Susan Pincus!” along with the students who will receive the scholarship later in 2014
Susan Pincus in turn donated the train set back to Bob, paying it forward for yet another later prize for a good cause
The chapter honored Bob for his efforts and idea with the presentation of a book of Susan’s photos from a recent trip that he, Susan and Sue had made to the Baltimore Train Museum
TRIO Philadelphia offers its thanks to everyone who supported this great fund raiser.
Stay tuned since Bob has said he might offer yet another incentive train set next year to repeat this year’s success.
“Thank you, Bob!”
The prize for the drawing was this Lionel O-gauge Penn Flyer ready to run train set: (click on image for full detail of the set)
